Neponset River Regional Chamber: HR Fundamentals

The HR Fundamentals for Small Businesses program is a practical training session designed to help small business owners, managers, supervisors, and administrative professionals understand the core principles of human resources management. Many small businesses operate without a dedicated HR department, requiring leaders to manage employee-related responsibilities while balancing day-to-day operations. This program provides participants with a foundational understanding of essential HR practices to help small business leaders understand key employment responsibilities.

Compliance is a central theme throughout the session. Participants are introduced to fundamental employment laws and regulations that commonly affect small businesses. Topics include wage and hour requirements, employee classification, equal employment opportunity principles, anti-discrimination and harassment prevention, and workplace recordkeeping obligations.

The program provides practical guidance to help participants identify common compliance risks and understand the importance of maintaining accurate employment records and consistent workplace practices.
