Ben Thompson’s debut as a professional artist was in 2005 with his self-published book “HUSK”, a collection of comics, illustrated short stories and journal entries which won the Xeric award (a prestigious grant founded by Peter Liard, co-creator of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).

Since 2009 Ben has worked full time as a professional tattoo artist throughout New England focusing on black and grey portraiture. Despite his busy day job he manages to find time working on personal fine art and illustration with a focus on narrative based figure drawings and nudes in the classical Baroque style.

Primarily working in graphite, Ben also frequently uses ballpoint pen, watercolor and oil paint exploring the relationship between sketchbook art (work that is typically private and not intended for public consumption) and fine art/illustration.
